Web Space The main feature of your web hosting account is disk space on our UNIX servers in which to place your web site files, graphics and store your emails. Each one of our servers runs a RAID disk redundancy solution, should any of the primary disk drives fail, a secondary disk drive can take over the work load with no loss of availability.
Data Transfer (Bandwidth) Each time a domain on your account is accessed or email is sent to a domain on your account data is transferred across the Internet. The amount of data transfer (bandwidth) used by your account depends directly on your web site content, number of visitors to your site and the amount of email you send and receive. The amount of data transfer can be monitored via your control panel and you will be notified by email once you reach 80% of your monthly allowance. If you find you require more bandwidth then you can upgrade your account at any time.
	Control Panel Manage all aspects of your account 24 hours a day instantly via our easy to use online control panel. Please note: The control panel uses port 2082 and webmail uses port 2095 so these must be enabled if you are accessing the Internet from behind a firewall.

Domains

Parked / Mirrored Domains Parked (mirrored) domains allow you to have additional domain names on your hosting account that users can use to reach the same website as your primary domain. This is useful if you want to register multiple domains with different extensions (for example: yourdomain.com & yourdomain.co.uk). Independent email addresses can be set-up at each of the domains. This is designed to save you time in configuring individual domains and save you money as you only need to pay for web hosting on the primary domain. There is no limit to the number of domains that can be parked (mirrored) on your account. Additional domains can be parked on your account by specifying the domain mirroring option on the order form when registering your domains. Please note: You cannot use parked domains in your web space and have a different website displayed depending on the domain entered by the user. If you want to display different websites for your domains then you would need to have multiple hosting accounts. If you have already registered a domain elsewhere you can transfer it and park / mirror it on your account.

Subdomains Create third level domain names such as offers.yourdomain.com. Each subdomain points to it's own directory, so you can easily load special web content for your subdomain. A lot of larger businesses use subdomains to establish branding and focus on separate product lines, because a subdomain can be accessed using it's own separate URL.

Web Forwarding This feature allows you to redirect web requests from one page to another. The redirected page can be another page within your own web site or any other URL. This is particularly useful if you have recently moved one of your pages and you still want visitors using old book marked links to be able to find it.

Email
	Email Accounts (POP3 / IMAP) You can set-up an unlimited number of email addresses on your account. Email received for an address can either be forwarded (see below) or stored in a mailbox on our server for retrieval later using an email client program like Outlook Express or our Webmail facility (see below).
Email Forwarding Email sent to any address at your domain name(s) can be automatically forwarded to either a POP3 mailbox on our server or forwarded to an existing email address elsewhere. You can set-up an unlimited number of forwarders on your account and set-up multiple forwards for any address.
Autoresponders Autoresponders are email messages that are sent automatically when an email arrives for a specific email address on your account. Autoresponders are most commonly used for an "Out of Office" style message to inform your correspondents that you are not available, without you having to reply manually.
Email Filtering Email filters are a way of filtering your email to reroute mail based on a variety of criteria. Detected mail can be deleted or sent to another email address or script.
	Email virus Protection All incoming email is scanned using Clam AntiVirus and any emails containing viruses are automatically removed from the system before you download them to your inbox. 	Anti-SPAM blacklist checking Our email servers check the originating IP address of all incoming emails against realtime databases of spam-sources, including known spammers, open mail relays, spam operations and spam support services. 	Spam Assassin All incoming email is scanned using Spam Assassin, an automated mail filter that uses a wide range of heuristic algorithms on mail headers and message body text, to identify "SPAM" (unsolicited email). SMTP (Outgoing) Server Many ISPs will not allow the relaying (sending) of email for other domains through their mail servers or in the case of broadband ISPs not provide any email services at all. To address these issues you will be able to send email using your own SMTP server (mail.yourdomain.com). NOTE: There is a strict 300 mails per domain per hour sending limit across all hosting account types. This can be increased on request to 600 for ULTRA Silver, 1000 for ULTRA Gold and 1500 for ULTRA Platinum.
Webmail Using this facility you will be able to access your email from anywhere at any time as long as you have access to the Internet. You can choose between two different webmail programs installed on the server, each one offering slightly different facilities. Horde even allows you to store your contacts and appointments enabling you to access them at anytime.   Please note: The control panel uses port 2082 and webmail uses port 2095 so these must be enabled if you are accessing the Internet from behind a firewall.
Modify DNS MX Record If you run your own mail server or want to have your email hosted elsewhere you can modify the MX DNS record for your main domain using the option in the control panel. Note: This option is currently unavailable for sub domains.

Management

FTP Accounts FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is used for maintaining the files in your web space. By default you would have access to ftp files to and from your site using the same username and password as you use for your control panel. ULTRA Bronze plans and above enable you to allow other people, like your web designer, to maintain your web site contents using ftp by creating additional ftp account(s).

Web Based File Manager The File Manager allows you to manage your site through HTML, rather than an FTP tool or other third-party application. You can upload, create or delete files, organize files in folders, and change file permissions. While not as sophisticated as most FTP tools, File Manager can be used from any web based browser and gives you all the basic functionality necessary to manage your site.

Download / Restore Backups The Backup area allows you to download a backup file of your home directory, or a particular MySQL database, alias, or filter backup file at any time. Options are also provided for you to be able to re-upload the files and databases to restore your site quickly and easily if required. Please note that it is your responsibility to ensure that you maintain local backup copies of your Web Site content, databases and emails using the above options for use in any necessary restore operations. We do not provide user backup / restore services.

Custom Error Pages Error pages are displayed to Internet users when any one of a variety of errors occur, such as when a user enters an incorrect URL or is not authorised to access a specific directory in your web site. Companies often customise error pages to brand them with a specific corporate image and to link back to their home page rather than losing the visitor.

Cron Job Scheduling Cron jobs allow you to automate repetitive tasks on the server allowing you to take a hands-free approach. For example, you could add a cron job that automatically runs your invoicing script overnight.

Security

Index Manager The Index Manager enables you to control how directories on your web site are displayed if you have not loaded a default page of your own to a particular directory. By default, the entire contents of the directory will be displayed to the browser which is usually undesirable and can cause security issues.

Deny Access by IP The IP Deny Manager enables you to block access to your web site from specific IP addresses. This is useful to remove nuisance surfers who use a large amount of bandwidth or to prevent hotlinking to your site (refer to HotLink Protection below).

Directory Password Protection You can protect directories within your site from browsers by using a password to protect them. This allows you to restrict material to only authorised users or store sensitive material online.

Hotlink Protection Hotlinking is when another web site links directly to one or more of your images or multimedia files and includes it on their web page. Not only is this theft of your intellectual property, but it also consumes part of your bandwidth allowance to serve content to the other site. Using your control panel you can prevent hotlinking by only allowing named sites (such as your own web site) to access files on your site.

128 Bit SSL Secure Server SSL allows the collection of sensitive data such as credit card information from browsers via a strongly encrypted connection, which is identified to users by a locked padlock on the status bar of their browser. If you have an order page or some other page that collects sensitive data on your web site, it can be accessed by this method using a virtual folder on our secure web server.

	MySQL Databases MySQL is essentially an SQL server that responds to requests for information from databases that are written in SQL. You can communicate with MySQL using a wide variety of programming languages, PHP being one of the most common.
